About Law Week

In 2009 Law Week takes on the theme of 'Law at Work', focussing on the many roles of people, and workplaces in the law.

'Law at Work' offers an opportunity to:

  • meet people who work in the law
  • understand the many areas of law
  • explore the range of services available
  • focus on laws in the workplace: equal opportunity, anti-discrimination, dispute settlement, occupational health and safety

and of course we will continue to offer all the regular events that help explain how the law works in everyday life!

As the most significant community outreach activity on the legal calendar, Law Week is an opportune time to raise awareness of services available and host a public event, such as a launch, seminar or display. Background

Law Week is coordinated in Victoria by Victoria Law Foundation.

Law Week is held in the 3rd week of May each year to promote greater understanding of the law within the community. Law Week reaches out to members of our community with FREE events, inviting discovery of the rich culture of our law and justice system and celebrating the vital role it plays in our society.

Law Week is an opportunity for the community to learn about the law and for lawyers to become involved in their communities assisting with understanding of the law.

Target audience

The whole community, including those who work in the law, can participate in Law Week. From exploring the art and architecture of Melbourne's grand legal precinct, to learning about human rights or finding out about local laws affecting you and your neighbours, Law Week has something for everyone from Melbourne to the bush!

Please don't hesitate in contacting me, should you have any queries about Law Week.
