Accessible formats for people with print disabilities

Vision Australia is Australia ’s leading provider of services for the vision impaired. They provide useful resources to assist in writing publications for the vision impaired:
A, b, c, d
They also provide advice and a consultation service. Large Print guidelines.

The Commonwealth Disability Strategy is a framework for the inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in Government policies, programs and services. They have created a Better information and communications practices publication. They also have a page on making material accessible for all Australians: How do you make material accessible for everyone.

Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities Inc is an Australia and New Zealand group promoting the use of quality alternative formats for people with print disabilities. They have produced eight sets of guidelines on accessible formats which you can buy from this site.

Blind Citizens Australia has guidelines on how to provide accessible formats for people with print disabilities. There are also a number of links to other organisations who assist with these formats.

Scope provides disability services throughout Victoria to people with physical and multiple disabilities. Scope runs a Communication Resource Centre that provides information and resources for people with little or no speech (complex communication needs).

Arts Access Australia is the national peak body of State and Territory arts and disability organizations. They work to provide access to and participation in the Arts for people with disabilities. They have created guidelines for their print publications.

Dyslexic.com focuses on accessible formats for people with Dyslexia. There are a number of articles on accessibility here.

ISAAC is the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. They have a great deal of research on their websites about using these types of communication. They also have a list of ‘chapters’ around the world and publications on Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
