A Just Society? is a collection of essays examining the meaning and significance of the term 'access to justice'. It draws on the experiences and views of 12 individuals, including representatives of disadvantaged groups, people working within the legal system and 'independent' commentators.

Primarily designed as a plain-language educational resource for upper-secondary and undergraduate tertiary students, A Just Society? is also a book for anyone interested in the current state of the Australian justice system. Contributors include: Chief Justice Alastair Nicholson; Justice Tony Fitzgerald; Pat O'Shane, magistrate, author and social commentator; Tim Anderson, sociologist and NSW Council for Civil Liberties; and others committed to justice for all Australians.
Extensive teacher notes include over 100 questions, discussion and essay topics for students.

The book links to topics in VCE Legal Studies courses such as tribunals, court processes and procedures, legal aid and changing the law. Teachers can download curriculum links and an updated list of useful internet sites here.
